Wondrous Alaska-Denali National Park

Image
Visited in July 2016 Denali National Park in the State of Alaska USA, is spread over a magnanimous area of more than 6 million acres/ 24,500 sq Km! One really cannot sum up the incredibly fascinating beauty of its landscapes and the sheer enigmatic colors of those landscapes.  Mt. Denali (previously known as Mt. Mckinley) at 20,310 ft/6190.5 m,  is the  highest peak in North America. We had booked  a resort hotel inside the National park (There are quite a few around the same place). All of there hotels/resorts have shuttles from the train station, in case you decide to experience the train ride up to Denali. This is a little view from the balcony of our hotel room at 2am. Denali does not allow private vehicles after about a few miles from the entrance. To tour this vastness, one needs to book one of Denali bus tours. There are many of them including ones for campers and hikers. We chose a 12 hrs trip to and fro covering a distance of 170 miles ...

The Blue Waters and Dry Tortugas NP-Florida

Image
Visited- Dec 2017 Key West Florida had been on our minds for a few years now, especially since that is a much sought after tourist destination in the the state of Florida. The state also happens to be very hot except in Dec and Jan when the temperatures are a little bit better(for me). Key West is all about outdoors, and anything in excess of 23deg C or 73deg F is not a friendly weather for outdoor activities for me. Now going to Key West isn't enough if you want to experience the magic of the turquoise, and emerald green waters. 'The Dry Tortugas National Park' . We were thrilled to be able to visit this rare island on Gulf of Mexico, 70 miles off of Key West Florida. Also that we managed to plan our visit includin g getting ti ckets for the sea plane trip at the first go. It's tricky to reach here. There are very few slots available (there's a cap on the n umber of visitors in a day)  n hence difficult. Also it's not connected by road The island is a h...

The Death Valley

Image
Visited- November 2017 Our half a day trip to Death Valley National Park was one of the highlights of this trip. One of the largest in terms of area, Death Valley  is the hottest, driest and lowest of the national parks in the United States. Never knew an endless stretch of arid, haunting nothingness could be this extraordinarily fascinating! The valley with its badlands, salt pans, canyons, sand dunes was one overwhelming experience. We started our journey from Zion National park Utah at 4 am and drove for about three and a half hours to reach Death Valley Visitor centre at Furnace Creek California at about 8.30 am. We took a couple of short 10-15 minutes break at two places. The temperatures rose from about a 3 deg C to almost a 30 deg C, by the time we were inside the valley. The sun was scorching and since I unfortunately forgot to apply sunscreen, I got blisters all over my face the next morning and some sun burns.  Note-  Whatever the season, ...
